Overview
Due to federal and state legislative rules, video-based advocacy campaigns cannot be used for Senate-targeted outreach. These restrictions are designed to regulate the format and delivery of constituent communications to ensure equal access and compliance with official communication policies.
Reason for Discontinuation
Federal Regulations: The U.S. Senate enforces strict guidelines on the formats in which it accepts constituent communications. Video submissions are not an approved format for official correspondence and may be blocked or discarded by Senate systems.
State Regulations: Many states with U.S. Senate representation also have additional rules that limit or prohibit multimedia attachments in advocacy communications.
Technical Barriers: Senate webforms and email gateways often reject video files or links, preventing messages from being delivered successfully.
Impact on Campaigns
Senate Campaigns:
Video functionality is disabled for campaigns targeting Senators to ensure 100% compliance with legal and technical requirements.House and Other Campaigns:
Video campaigns are still be available for outreach to U.S. Representatives, state legislators, or other targets, provided those offices accept video content.
